Our Private Preschool Curriculum
At the Broad Bay Manor private preschool in Virginia Beach we understand that young children learn through a wide variety of methods and at varying rates. The Manor Schools have developed an eclectic approach to foster this growth in early childhood education. We use materials gathered from Montessori preschool methods (the British infant system) and traditional education methods. Our private preschool teachers give each child individual attention in order to target the needs of each child in their class. Our goal is to provide each child a rich early childhood learning experience that supports both cognitive and emotional growth, ensuring they are well-prepared for future learning schools. Thematic Studies
Our Kindergarten program continues the Manor School mission to ensure each child realizes their full potential and develops an ongoing love for learning and education. We strive to develop and nurture a positive self image through individual instruction and a developmental approach to learning. The children will learn the proper mechanics of handwriting and written language while enhancing their written comprehension skills.This is done through structured composition, free style journaling and , of course, lots of beautiful illustrations. Math is taught daily using a combination of individualized and whole group instruction. Children will also work their way through the Manor School math workbooks to reinforce concepts. These concepts include place value, skip counting, time, money, geometry, computation, fractions, measuring, weighing, tallying and more.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Our STEM Program allows our kindergarteners to engage and develop their creative and critical thinking skills. Students will be introduced to weekly exploratory investigations and experiments. Here the child is encouraged to think creatively to find their own solution or outcome to the activity. Children will analyze, theorize, predict, build, race, construct and all the other wonderful verbs that go along with this program!
