We can’t believe the school year is beginning to come to a close! Everything seems sunnier as we are now enjoying more time outside and summer is just around the corner. May will surely prove to be busy with classes finishing up their full last month of school, focusing on spring and Dr. Seuss. As a reminder, please make sure we have a permission slip on file if would like for us to apply a school-supplied sunblock on your child. Thank you for all your continued support throughout the school year!

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 5th – 9th is teacher appreciate week. We have something special planned for our teachers each day and invite you to join us in honoring their hard work and dedication. Feel free to have your child send in a handwritten card, a flower from your garden, or anything else they think their teacher will love.

Lost & Found

Our lost and found basket is overflowing again! Are you missing anything? Hats? Jackets? Water bottles?
Please check out the basket in our lobby and claim your items!

Change of Clothes

Please swap out your students’ spare change of clothes (the set that is kept in their bookbag) for a seasonably appropriate outfit.

Summer Camp

Summer camp begins on June 23rd and runs for 8 weeks, concluding on August 15th. Please return your registration form as soon as possible. Two-day, three-day, five day (full and half day) spots still available.

Enrollment / Parent Agreements​

If your student will be returning to Bellamy for the 2025 – 2026 School year, please log into your Brightwheel account and make sure you have completed your 2025 Enrollment Form and your Parent Agreement. Students will not be able to start if this is not completed.

Lobby Upgrade

We hope you all have had a chance to come into the building and see the new floors and painting we received over the spring break! It was so refreshing and exciting to come back to!

What we are learning

2’s – Ms. Ariella and Ms. Yanira’s classes continue to help our youngest children with the exciting process of learning and spending time on mastering their shapes.

3’s – The three-year-old classes will learn all about spring! They will investigate bugs and the season of spring through a lot of hands-on activities and outside time!

4’s – The four-year-old classes will study Dr. Seuss and all his zany characters. The Cat and Hat and all his friends-Thigwick, Bartholomew, Horton and Yertle the Turtle become our vehicles of learning.

PRK – In April, our PRK classes learned all about Birds of Prey. They will now focus on tropical Rainforests. They become aware of the unique ecosystem as well as an expert on bugs, snakes, and other habitats.

Kindergarten – Kindergarten has an exciting month! Mrs. Hobbs class will be learning about the stages of plant development, butterfly development, and frog development through hands-on learning. Academically, many are learning long vowel sounds and spelling. As spring progresses, we plan to incorporate creative writing weekly.

This month our school will be focusing on all things spring! We’re looking forward to warmer weather, a lot of outside time, and continuing to learn and grow together. Spring shows, spring crafts, and spring break will all fill up our month. As we approach upcoming sunny days, you’ll see sunscreen permission slips come home in your child’s folder. As always, let us know of any questions you may have, and we always appreciate your family’s amazing support!

Egg Hunts

Our annual Egg Hunt egg-stravaganza is coming up! We kindly request that each family contribute 12 treat / or toy filled eggs to add to the classes collection for the festivities. Rain or shine, each class will embark on a thrilling egg hunt adventure, filled with excitement and surprises. Children will have a blast hunting for eggs and collecting their treasures to bring home. As a friendly reminder, we prioritize the safety of all our participants by maintaining a strict nut-free policy at our facility. Students will have a fun-filled day of egg-citement and joy at our Egg Hunt celebration!

Summer Registration

Summer registration is quickly filling up. Please send your registration forms in as soon as possible to secure your child’s spot. Do you have older children that are looking for something fun to do this summer? We have an elementary age program that is great for keeping your older student engaged while immersing them in under the sea themed fun.

Class Photos

Class photo proofs are available in your Brightwheel messages (via a PDF) and in a binder at the check in / out desk in the lobby. All orders are due by April 2, 2025. Please select option 1 or option 2 and send your order form in with cash or check (made payable to Eric Gillespie)!

Individual proof sheets will be sent home for viewing / purchasing at a later date.

Spring Break​

The Manor Schools will be closed from April 14 through the 18th.

What we are learning

2’s – This month the two-year-olds will explore the adventures of Pete the Cat.
So much fun for our little ones!

3’s – The three-year-old teachers will introduce life on the farm. The focus of this unit will be farm animals and their environment.

4’s – The four-year-olds will discover the fantasy world of castles, dragons and unicorns. Medieval knights and princesses will come alive for them, and the children will finish the unit with a royal ball fit for any king or queen.


PRK –Ms. Sandra’s PRK class will become environmentally aware as they focus their attention on birds of prey. The class will learn a variety of facts such as why the hawk has a hooked beak and where the Osprey live.

Kindergarten – Our kindergarten class will study the rhyming stories of Dr. Seuss. This is a fun time to rhyme in silly ways. It all ends with a “ Breakfast at Bellamy” featuring Green Eggs and Ham (of course)! The children have so much fun while an incredible amount of learning take place!

After a long & cold February we look forward to the signs of spring in March. Along with new units in all classes in March, we will be celebrating all the festivities of St. Patrick’s Day. Summer registration will be opening the beginning of March as well. We offer a variety of schedules for summer and are happy to talk with any family about our wonderful summer program. March is always the time of year we have our class pictures! Please make sure to check your child’s class picture schedule listed below. As always, all of our teachers and staff thank you for your continued support!

2025 – 2026 Registration

Our classes are filling up quickly, but we do we still have space in our before school program for Providence and Kempsville Elementary and our after-school
class for students attending Kempsville and Indian Lakes Elementary. Please
complete your registration form as soon as possible to secure your space.

Summer Registration

Summer Registration is officially here! Current students have priority registration until 7th. Registration will open to the public beginning on March 10th. We have flexible options available (including 2 day, 3 day, and full / half day options) to meet your families summer time needs.

Bellamy Little Library

As many of you have noticed, our little library is open for business. Please feel free to take home or drop off a book for others to pick. We will have a Scholastic order going out on March 7th if anyone would like to add a book or two to their order.

Donations​

We are always appreciative of any classroom supplies! Here are some suggestions for those interested: New or Gently used books for Book Library / Stickers / Pringles Cans (both sizes)

What we are learning

2’s – Fun with Food will be all of March in twos! The class has so many fun foods to try and crafts to create. This unit will truly awaken their senses.

3’s – The three-year-olds will be learning all about nutrition this month! The classes will learn about healthy foods, dabble in some cooking and even paint with fresh veggies. The end of the unit the threes will be bringing home class created cookbooks!

4’s – Our four-year-olds will be traveling back in time and learning all about the Wild West! This will include cowboys, horses, and rodeos, with a combination of factual information.

PRK – Ms. Sandra’s PrK class will be learning all about Habitats and Endangered Species. The class will be introduced to some basic geographical concepts as well as habitats and the environment of endangered species.

Kindergarten – The kindergarten class finished up a trip around the world and now they will study the Human Body in March. The class will study the entire human body starting with our skin, systems, and the heart.

Hello February!

After the long January of cold weather and snow, it surely feels like we are in the full swing of winter! Love and learning are in the air in all of our classrooms this month! All classes will celebrate Valentine’s Day with heart-filled parties and Valentine exchanges with classmates.


Registration is going wonderfully for the upcoming school year! If you plan on returning, please keep in mind that registration will open for anyone not currently enrolled at our school February 3rd. We look forward to another month of learning with all your sweet children!

Love is in the Air!

Our students are excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day! We kindly ask you to send in cards for each student, but there’s no need to address them individually. Let’s spread love and joy throughout our classroom with a fun Valentine exchange. It’s a wonderful way to create special memories and share kindness with one another. Summer Registration

Be on the lookout for our 2025 summer registration forms. A hard copy will be sent home in your child’s folder and an online form will be available on our website. Be sure to return them quickly as spaces fill fast!

Vision Screenings

Please send in your Lion’s Club vision screening permission slip as soon as possible if you would like to have them screened. Screenings will take place on February 10th & 11th during class time.

Carline Reminders​

Please make sure you are lining up no early than 8:20am. Its hard for staff to get into the parking lot and our before school parents to get out before carline begins NO passing vehicles once we start unloading children. This is to keep everyone safe! Please be patient.

Little Ceasars

We are entering the final few days of our Little Caesars fundraiser. There is still time to place your order for your pizza kit. Pizza kits are shipped directly to your home and make for a fun evening activity.

What we are learning

2’s – The world of color is introduced to our twos through easel & sponge painting, spin art and continued backed papers. This is a grand time for our youngest Bellamy children!

3’s – Our threes will begin the month of February with our community helper’s unit. The teachers introduce their classes to all the helpers in their community. We try to have doctors, nurses, firemen, policemen, dentists, crossing guard and any other community helpers come visit our classes. If any parents can provide any expertise in the area, please let us know. We would love to have you come visit our threes!

4’s – The fours have packed up Beatrix Potter and will not take an in-depth look at nature by studying birds. By the end of this unit, the four-year-olds will be able to identify close to twenty-five different species of birds. The unit ends with a large bird party!

PRK – Ms. Sandra’s class will take an in depth look in February at our Presidents. They will take a look at our country’s history, the pledge of allegiance, currency and the anecdotes of George and Abe! The unit ends at the end of the month with a Presidential Ball.

Kindergarten – The kindergarteners will take a trip around the world as they learn all about children in different countries. The emphasis of study will focus on the dress, food, homes and customs of countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. If any of you have traveled and can share pictures or items with the class, please let us know!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope your holidays were delightful. We’re so excited to welcome everyone back. The children and teachers return from break refreshed and ready for learning. January always seems to be the month all the children experience the most academic growth. This is always a great time for fresh starts in the classroom. Registration will open for our current Bellamy families when we return from the holiday break. Little Ceasars

Beginning on January 6th, the Manor Schools will begin our winter fundraiser. This one is the easiest by far and a super fun one to do with your family. You can order a pizza kit from the website and it will ship directly to your home. A great way to raise money for our school and have fun family time at home. More details will be coming out via Brightwheel soon!

Lead Water Testing​

Va Dept of Health and VA Dept of Education require all day care centers/schools to test for lead in their drinking water. Bellamy Manor completed this test in December 2024. Our test results came in well under the legal limit of 15ppm.

What we are learning

2’s – The two’s have grown so much! This January their classes will begin to learn about the meaning of opposites.

3’s – The three-year-olds will do a quick review of letters and numbers when returning to school. The rest of the month will be the study of the zoo!

4’s – The four-year-olds will take a leap into fantasy and hop off to Mr. McGregor’s garden to learn all about Beatrix Potter.

PRK – PRK will now study the world of insects. They will even raise a colony of ants in the classroom. This will all happen while Ms. Sandra is still focusing on individualized learning.

Kindergarten – The kindergarten class will take a trip back in time and learn all about dinosaurs! These young paleontologists will learn to identify nearly twenty-five dinosaurs before attending a dinosaur hunt at the end of the month. A lot of time is also spent on handwriting, math facts, and the concept of fractions.

Director’s Desk

We hope you’re ready to embark on a month filled with winter wonders and holiday cheer! The month will kick off with holiday programs, holiday crafts a “special visitor” on the 16th and festivities throughout the building. This is all with continued learning and academics. This past fall has been productive in all classes, and we hope you see the continued growth and progress in your child as much as we do. Thank you as always for your continued support and we wish you all the happiest of holidays!

Our winter break is quickly approaching. Our last day of school is December 20, 2024. School will reopen for students and staff on January 6, 2025.

Lost & Found​

Please take a few moments before our holiday break to check out our lost and found basket. All items will be taken to CHKD at the close of business on December 20th. There are jackets, sweaters, water bottles, and so much more!

The Noblemen​

As the holiday season approaches, we have partnered with The Noblemen to give back to our community. Please join us in helping the Noblemen make Christmas wishes come true for some great kids here in Hampton Roads by placing a new and unwrapped toy in the large green box in the lobby.

We will be accepting donations starting November 25th until December 13th. Thank you in advance for your help in making holiday magic happen for children in our area.

Winter Program

What we are learning

All the classes will devote the month of December to holiday preparations, both Christmas and Hanukkah. All the children will make crafts and learn songs for their celebrations. In addition to ongoing learning, this month’s activities will include making and wrapping gifts your children have made for you, baking, and preparing for the holidays. Kindergarten studies the instruments of the orchestra to help them learn to appreciate the music they will hear this holiday season.
