January ’25
Director’s Desk

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope your holidays were delightful. We’re so excited to welcome everyone back. The children and teachers return from break refreshed and ready for learning. January always seems to be the month all the children experience the most academic growth. This is always a great time for fresh starts in the classroom. Registration will open for our current Bellamy families when we return from the holiday break. Please let us know if we can help in any way with placement guidance for your child with the next school year. Thank you as always and WELCOME BACK!

Best, Kristine

Little Ceasars

Beginning on January 6th, the Manor Schools will begin our winter fundraiser. This one is the easiest by far and a super fun one to do with your family. You can order a pizza kit from the website and it will ship directly to your home. A great way to raise money for our school and have fun family time at home. More details will be coming out via Brightwheel soon!

Lead Water Testing

Va Dept of Health and VA Dept of Education require all day care centers/schools to test for lead in their drinking water. Bellamy Manor completed this test in December 2024. Our test results came in well under the legal limit of 15ppm.

What we are learning

2’s – The two’s have grown so much! This January their classes will begin to learn about the meaning of opposites.

3’s – The three-year-olds will do a quick review of letters and numbers when returning to school. The rest of the month will be the study of the zoo!

4’s – The four-year-olds will take a leap into fantasy and hop off to Mr. McGregor’s garden to learn all about Beatrix Potter.

PRK – PRK will now study the world of insects. They will even raise a colony of ants in the classroom. This will all happen while Ms. Sandra is still focusing on individualized learning.

Kindergarten – The kindergarten class will take a trip back in time and learn all about dinosaurs! These young paleontologists will learn to identify nearly twenty-five dinosaurs before attending a dinosaur hunt at the end of the month. A lot of time is also spent on handwriting, math facts, and the concept of fractions.

The Noblemen

As the holiday season approaches, we have partnered with The Noblemen to give back to our community. Please join us in helping the Noblemen make Christmas wishes come true for some great kids here in Hampton Roads by placing a new and unwrapped toy in the large green box in the lobby.

We will be accepting donations starting November 25th until December 13th. Thank you in advance for your help in making holiday magic happen for children in our area.

Winter Program

What we are learning

All the classes will devote the month of December to holiday preparations, both Christmas and Hanukkah. All the children will make crafts and learn songs for their celebrations. In addition to ongoing learning, this month’s activities will include making and wrapping gifts your children have made for you, baking, and preparing for the holidays. Kindergarten studies the instruments of the orchestra to help them learn to appreciate the music they will hear this holiday season.
