Broad Bay Manor School Newsletter October ’25

October ’25
Director’s Desk

October is a wonderfully special month because of Halloween. Halloween, with carved pumpkins, “spooky” songs, and stories can by very exciting! The magic of make-believe is so special to a young child because of the excitement and delicious thrill of dress up. However, along with this excitement comes some anxiety. Three-year-olds are very new to the idea of pretend and even four year-olds aren’t always sure what’s real and what’s not. We really work hard to make this a fun experience and emphasize the silly, not the scary, aspect of Halloween. We hope your family has a wonderful beginning to this lovely time of year. Fall is full of traditions, make believe, and celebrations. We can’t wait to share them with your children!

Sincerely,

Betsey Cremin

Reminders

November 4th: Conference Day.   This is a day to discuss your child’s academic and social progress at BBMS with their teacher!  Report cards will be sent home the Friday before Conference Day for you to review. School is open for all-day children only (these are children enrolled in the 7:00-6:00 program).  If you are not sure if your child’s schedule meets the all-day requirement, please ask.   A sign-up genius will be sent in the upcoming weeks, please select a time to meet with your child’s teacher.

Medications: Please don’t ever send medicine to school inside a book bag. All medication, whether prescription or not, must be brought in with the appropriate paperwork by the parent through the front. No exceptions!

Extra Clothes: As the weather starts to change, please provide a weather appropriate change of clothes for your child. Ex: Pants, shirt, undies and socks. Please label all  pieces.

What We Are Learning

2’s – Last month the children were introduced to themselves and each other. Now we extend that idea, Ms. Bre and Ms. Kristin will focus just on the senses. There will be lots of cooking, crafts, and songs.

3’s- If you thought September was fun, October is even better if you are three! Ms. Jennifer, Ms. Aisha, and Ms. Stacy will introduce Eric Carle, the celebrated children’s author. His books are delightful, and the children will enjoy not only his emotional characters, but also his colorful and crafty illustrative techniques. Ms. Jamie Cruz has been busy introducing the students to the Spanish language!

4’s- Ms. Leigh and Ms. Dorothy’s 4’s classes finish their alphabet unit with a party with the children’s introduction/review of our language’s building blocks. The next focus is on fall and those pesky backyard critters, squirrels. The month continues with a quick study of more advanced shapes and secondary colors. They get quite involved in finger-painting and color mixing with different mediums. Ms. Sandra will continue vocabulary Spanish lessons with the class.

Pre-K -Ms. Moesta and Ms. Withers’ pre-kindergarten classes will hit the trail as they learn about horses! They will explore the different types and parts of one of man’s oldest animal friends. Ms. Sandra will continue vocabulary Spanish lessons with the class.

K- The  Kindergarten class will end the transportation unit with a brief study of the solar system and our planet, Earth. We finish with a wonderful astronaut party complete with space food. While amongst the stars, we study the constellations and the mythology behind each star group. Hopefully they will be able to find the Big Dipper on Halloween night.
